Calvin Modling – Owner
Calvin Modling launched his flooring career in 1977 when he opened Consumer Fashions in Jacksonville. Encouraged by homebuilder Ron Coppenbarger—who became his first business partner—Calvin left a sales job at Economy Decorators to pursue business ownership. After several relocations as the company grew, he purchased property on Philips Highway and, in 1986, opened a 15,500-square-foot showroom that became the company’s first owned location.
In 1991, Calvin joined CCA Global Partners, opening the company’s first Carpet One store. Expansion soon followed with additional Carpet One locations in Orange Park and St. Augustine, as well as acquisitions of Flooring America stores across Northeast Florida. Today, Best Buy Floors Inc. operates multiple successful showrooms, including Designers & Builders Source in Orange Park, reflecting Calvin’s vision of offering customers a wide range of flooring, cabinetry, countertops, and window treatments.
With nearly five decades of leadership, Calvin has grown his business from a small office with no storage to a trusted, multi-location brand serving communities across Jacksonville and beyond. His success stems from a strong work ethic, entrepreneurial drive, and a commitment to helping families create homes they love.
